Originally carded for a 2017 release, the La Gloria Cubana Británicas Extra has finally made it to the United Kingdom.
The new smoke is a double figurado measuring 5 3/8 inches long by 48 ring gauge, and packaged in wooden 10-count boxes. Only 6,000 numbered boxes have been produced, for a total of 60,000 cigars.
Although the La Gloria Cubana marca features only two regular production formats, there have been seven regional releases under the LGC moniker since 2015. These include the popular Serie D No. 5 Edición Regional España, and Invictos Edición Regional Italia.
The cigar is the same shape as a previous Edición Regionals for the U.K., the Bolívar Británicas that was originally released in 2012, as well as the Asia-Pacific regional Rafael Gonzalez 88. The Britanicas Extra also feature a more richly colored and detailed band design than found on standard LGC releases. This design was first seen on the La Gloria Cubana Gloriosos , and is a period rendition from the early 20th century exclusive to the U.K.
The Británicas Extra was originally part of the 2017 program but is not being released until 2020, an uncommon three-year delay. Furthermore, it is coming out after the U.K.’s 2018 Edición Regional, the El Rey del Mundo La Reina, which was released last year.
