Drew Estate has announced an addition to the lauded Herrera Esteli brand, created by master blender Willy Herrera. Herrera Esteli Brazilian Maduro features a dark, Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper over a Connecticut broadleaf binder, with filler tobaccos from Nicaragua.
Willy Herrera has always enjoyed working with Brazilian tobaccos, and at his prior gig at Miami’s tiny El Titan de Bronze factory on Calle Ocho, he would often experiment with Arapiraca and Mata Fina, two of Brazil’s more famous tobacco varietals.
Speaking at the recent International Premium Cigar and Pipe Retailers trade show, Herrera stated, “I love the sweetness of [Mata Fina], the floral notes it has…I always wanted to work with it, but it’s very expensive and hard to get.”
He went on to explain that blending Mata Fina with broadleaf offered a gritty, floral sweetness, which is what we can expect from the Estelli Brazilian Maduro.
Herrera Esteli Brazilian Maduro is set to be released in 25 count boxes featuring five sizes:
- Short Corona Gorda (5 7/8″ x 46)
- Robusto Grande (5 1/4″ x 52)
- Maduro Lonsdale (6″ x 44)
- Toro Especial (6″ x 52)
- Fino, a figurado (6″ x 52)
Rolled at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate in Nicaragua, Herrera Esteli Brazilian Maduro is expected to ship to retailers in October. Stay tuned for news on the Brazilian Maduro’s availability on Cigars of Habanos.
