Although full details have not been divulged, Habanos has announced the addition of 33 new skus for 2019, as reported by several sources.
Of the 33, seven are expected to be additions to the company’s global brands: Cohiba, H. Upmann, Hoyo de Monterrey, Montecristo, Partagás, Romeo y Julieta and José L. Piedra, At least one of these 7 is likely to be a Gran Reserva.
An additional seven cigars will be added to other brands, in the form of extensions, Edición Limitadas, LCDH exclusives and possibly a new marca.
The remaining 19 SKUs are expected to be occupied by the popular Edición Regional program, which sees Habanos S.A. produce exclusive cigars for individual distributors.
It remains to be whether these additions are accompanied by discontinuations, with a number of much-loved habanos (for example H. Upmann Petit Corona) being discontinued in recent years to make room for new releases.
There is likely to be some wait until the new releases hit the market however, with annual releases not being widely available until the last quarter of the calendar year.
